How do I add or edit a skipper’s name and other details?¶

At the moment, it seems I have to enter someone into an event before I can add or change their details. What should I do?

We get a lot of questions about this. It relates to Afleet's ability to remember skipper details, from event to event, to make it easier to set up new events.

For most details (such as sail number), you DO have to create an event entry (Entry Screen), to make Afleet remember those details for future events.

The exception is the skipper name. We created the ability to Correct Skipper Names directly, for all events in the app.

As a workaround, we can suggest a way to use existing functionality to add or change details, in preparation for future events:

1. Create an Event with a dummy name.

2. Add an entry with the details you want

   Warning

   If you want to change an existing skipper's name, it's best to use Correcting Skipper Names. Otherwise Afleet will see the new Entry as a different person, and they will come up twice in dropdowns (with both spellings)

3. Delete the entry from the dummy event. Afleet will have recorded the new details for when you really need them

4. Repeat for all skippers you want to add or change
5. Delete the dummy event (or keep it for next time)
